Chapeau bas.
Pieuvre
Union of circus and theatre
Balanced on a high wire between reality and fiction; fragments of life, dreams, deceits and memories, caught in literal suspension above our heads.
Just as the actor is an acrobat of the heart, the acrobat is a poet of the body. Since 2002, when the collective was founded, we have gained international recognition for intimate circus on a human scale. For Les 7 doigts, the acrobatic feat is never complete in and of itself — character, emotion, story and intention are always inextricably intertwined. It was the natural next step to forge this union of circus and theatre even further… a union both spectacular and touching.
We imagined the story of an actor who has never quite made it in his career, surviving but struggling. His memory overflows: too many characters, too many buried memories and unresolved questions. His personal recollections, his theatrical incarnations, his unspoken regrets, and his secret dreams merge onto one crowded landscape. Did he play his part as best he could? At the heart of this evocative merging of forms are two of Quebec’s finest actors, Rémy Girard and Pascale Monpetit, and six seasoned acrobats. Girard once again brings his immense humanity to illuminate the TNMstage.
